On Marty Supreme

"That doesn't even enter my consciousness" - Marty Mauser
The line rung in my head as I sat down in the dark theater, waiting for the movie to start. I expected to see Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Tiger Woods. A killer. A delightfully cocky, perfectly arrogant, completely dedicated, master of their craft. I wanted to see the archetype that I had idolized perfected in cinema. I was met by an impulsive, manipulative, narcassisstic con man.
I feel like there are two main interpretations of Marty Supreme. The first is one that sees Marty as a misunderstood hero, one that claims victory against all odds, one who defies the expecations of the world and achieves greatness. This view is one commonly held among the young, highly ambitious, slightly redpilled males that decided to watch Marty Supreme because of all the Tiktok edits of the trailer.
The second view is that Marty is a manipulative asshole, and the destruction and mayehem caused by his ambition is a truthful representation of the so called "greats" in the real world. This view is held by those who, in my opinion, cope with their lack of work ethic and vision by vilifying greatness due to it's byproducts.
As is true with most dichotomies, the truth lies in the gray.
